- Michael YONG michael.yong@reachplc.com

THE results for this year’s SATs exams have been confirmed, and we have a new top 10.

The Department for Education publishes Year Six exam results for every primary school in the country in its annual performance tables.

Bristol’s primary schools have seen an improvement from last year, with 63 per cent meeting the expected standard – just one short of the national average.

Nearly two in five children in Bristol rely on free school meals, above the national average.

Thousands of parents are set to put in their primary school application for September next year, and have until January 15 to do so.

Schools in some parts of the city, such as Redfield and St George, have small catchment areas and are difficult to get into.

The Bristol Post has crunched the numbers and looked at the highest attaining schools in the city.

We also have the results for every school in Bristol.

You can find the top 10 in the panel to the right.

There have been some great successes in the SATs results this year, especially from schools serving disadvantaged communities.

Hareclive, Four Acres, Frome Vale and Badocks Wood all have more than twice the national average percentage of children taking Free School Meals.

One school to turn it round this year was Perry Court E-Act in Hengrove. Over the last 10 years, the school’s results have spiralled. But under new head teacher Richard Healey their results have gone from 16 per cent to 69 per cent, well above the Bristol average.
