A new chapter Gardiner Haskins looks to future at its new premises
ONE of Bristol’s best known independent retailers is undergoing huge changes in the run-up to 2019. Gardiner Haskins Homecentre has been part of the city’s retail landscape for 193 years and now it is preparing for an exciting new chapter, starting next week.
Monday, December 17, will see the opening of the company’s brand-new, multi-department showrooms situated in the historic Brunel Rooms building on Straight Street. Under the new Gardiner Haskins Interiors brand, the company will be focusing on providing customers with top quality British and world-leading brands, as well as impeccable customer service.
The £1 million project marks the culmination of months of work by the company in creating an inspirational new space that will house several departments including a luxury fitted kitchen showroom, bathroom showroom, made to measure studio and beds department. Despite the more modern feel of the new company image, the company is committed to maintaining the traditional, friendly and personal service that has become its unique selling point for almost two centuries. In-house staff are experts in their field and are on hand seven days a week to work with customers to make their visions and aspirations for their home a reality.
When designing the new showrooms, the company was careful to incorporate its historical roots and the history of the Brunel Rooms building.
Showroom manager Richard Harris said: “When planning how the showroom itself would look, we wanted to keep as much of the building’s character as possible. It already had great features to work with such as the large, stone archways which let a lot of natural light in and existing internal pillars. As a company steeped in the history of Bristol, we felt that our new slogan ‘Inspiring homes since 1825’ was appropriate as everything we have created here has been designed with that heritage in mind.”
