Glenn to leave the FA
FORMER Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill has emerged as an early favourite to replace Darrell Clarke at Bristol Rovers.
Clarke has left the Gas after nearly six years, with the club in the League One relegation zone following just four wins this season.
Cotterill is the frontrunner for the Memorial Stadium job with Sky Bet making the former Birmingham City boss the favourite to take charge. The 54-year-old managed City for three years as they won pro- motion back to the Championship before being sacked in 2016. He has since taken charge of the Blues but left in March 2018 with the club struggling near the bottom of the league.
Cotterill still lives in Bristol and was in attendance during Rovers’ 2-1 home defeat to Scunthorpe.
Bristol Rovers legend Ian Holloway is also among the frontrunners in the betting. Holloway started his playing career at Rovers and returned for two further spells at the club, before he went on to manage the Gas from 1996 to 2001. » FOOTBALL Association chief executive Martin Glenn will step down at the end of the 2018-19 season after four years in the role.
The FA said he was leaving having “delivered much of what he came to do”.
In a statement the FA credited him with creating the “culture around St George’s Park and the England teams which has led to an unprecedented period of success”.
“I will leave feeling proud of the success of the performance of all the England teams,” he said.
