Film-maker had cannabis stuffed between buttocks

-

A BRISTOL film-maker caught with cannabis has been jailed.

Sheldon Sawyers has had work shown at the Watershed, Bristol Crown Court heard.

The court was told some of his pieces have brought gangs in St Pauls and Easton together.

But police looked on as he went to a property in Shakespeare Avenue which was used for cannabis growing.

When officers stopped and searched him he was found to have cannabis and cash between his buttocks.

Sawyers, 28, of Blenheim Street in Easton, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Judge Euan Ambrose jailed him for six months.

He told Sawyers: “You were collecting drugs directly from the source. You had a very close link to the grow itself and those who were growing the drugs.”

David Scutt, prosecuting, said police detected a strong smell of cannabis when they stopped Sawyers in a BMW car in Heath Road.

He was arrested and was found to have 15.6g of cannabis and £435 cash between his buttocks.

Searches of his home and two addresses he had access to forensically linked him to a kilo-anda-quarter of cannabis valued at £8,500.

Sawyers told police: “I am Sheldon Sawyers. I was not involved in production of any drugs.”
