Gas’ in-form striker attracting interest from Championship

-

BRISTOL Rovers are bracing themselves over summer interest for Jonson Clarke-Harris, according to reports.

The Gas only signed the striker from Coventry City on deadline day in January but he has proved a revelation, netting seven goals in nine appearances since joining.

Now HITC report that a number of Championship clubs are keeping tabs on his progress. Citing sources close to the club, the report says that a number of scouts have started to pay attention to ClarkeHarris’ performances, and that Championship clubs are expected to at tonight’s Doncaster Rovers game.

It is not just his goals that have attracted attention, with his hold-up play and ability to bring others into play proving to be eye-catching.

Speaking earlier this month after the striker’s goal against Gillingham, Gas boss Graham Coughlan said the player wanted to play Championship football - albeit with the Gas. He said: “He has got power in his boots and he has got individual brilliance. My task now is not just to keep this team in this division but to get these players to kick on, and push on and achieve a little bit more in their careers than they have been individually and collectively, and try and push this club on. I keep saying to Jono you’ve to work hard and do the basics, get that consistency in your game and you won’t be playing in League One any longer. Jono keeps saying he wants to play in the Championship with me and I keep telling Jono, and I have been promising all his days, I will help him get there. I hope it’s with this club.”
