U18 Combinatio­n Sodbury through to League Cup final

CHIPPING Sodbury won 4-1 against Thornbury to move into the League Cup final, where they will meet either Cribbs or Port of Bristol.

Ross Womack gave Sodbury a half-time lead after finishing off a counter-attack with a low shot into the corner of the net.

In the second half, Lewis Wynn made it 2-0 with a near-post finish. Daniel Manley pulled a goal back when he slotted home a rebound, but five minutes from time Womack scored the goal of the game with a swerving shot into the corner of the goal.

In the dying minutes, Matt Day scored Sodbury’s fourth.

In a League Plate semi-final, Keynsham Town B completed a stunning comeback against Keynsham Town A to make it 5-5 at the end of full-time and they then went on to win the penalty shootout 4-2. They will play Brislingto­n or Warmley Rangers in the final. Keynsham Town A scored from a corner to make it 1-0, courtesy of Dylan Quibell, and quickly doubled their lead when Toby Cook latched on to a great pass from Harry CooperWhit­e to slot the ball into the net. It was soon 3-0 thanks to a stunning 35-yard free-kick from Toby Cook.

The B team came out the traps quickly in the second half, scoring within five minutes. A free-kick was put into the box and flicked on past goalkeeper Joe Hawker.

Cook slotted home a penalty to complete his hat-trick and make it 4-1 to Keynsham Town A.

Kieran Jones poked home a second for the B team, but Keynsham Town A thought they had put the game to bed with 12 minutes to go when Ethan Maule latched on to a Ryan Holder flick on to put the ball past Zak Greatorex.

But, with five minutes to go, a deflected pass enabled Evan Garton to reduce the deficit. Two minutes later, Callum Whyman made it 5-4. Then, in the 89th minute, Oliver Baxter scored from close range following a corner .

In the penalty shootout, James Davis, Greatorex, Thomas Campbell and Charlie Hunt scored for the B team, with Cooper-White and Maule the successful spot-kick takers for the A team.

In Division Two North, Wickwar Wanderers won 5-1 at title rivals Chipping Sodbury.

Eddie Hawkins gave Wickwar an early lead, but Sodbury soon equalised when Kane Head bundled the ball into the net.

Wickwar had the lion’s share of possession for the rest of the half and created a number of chances, three of which were put away as they establishe­d a commanding half-time advantage.

After the interval, Sodbury improved and began to see more of the ball and create a few halfchance­s which came to nothing.

Wickwar scored their fifth goal 35 minutes into the half when they scored from a free-kick just outside the penalty area.

Wickwar’s goals came Hawkins (2), Jack Beale (2) and Rory Morgan.

Victory gave Wickwar a threepoint lead at the top over Sodbury, with the sides playing each other gain on April 7.

Keynsham Town had a 4-1 home win against Stoke Lane.

Keynsham come into this game after just being knocked out the Plate on penalties by their B team.

A flare-up on 15 minutes resulted in the referee sending off three players - one for Keynsham and two for Stoke Lane.

Toby Cook gave Keynsham a 34th-minute lead, and two minutes later he extended his side’s lead with a penalty.

Cook completed his hat-trick early in the second half.

Stoke Lane reduced the deficit with ten minutes to go through Reece Hedges, but Ethan Maule added a fourth for Keynsham in the closing stages.

In Division Two South, Warmley made sure of being champions with a 2-1 victory at Bromley Heath.

A 20-yard shot from Jack Brooks gave Heath the lead, but Rhys Iles equalised shortly before half-time.

Three minutes into the second half, Luke Bailey scored the decisive goal with a half-volley into the roof of the net. Both teams had a player sent off during the second half.

In Division Three, champions Winterbour­ne completed an unbeaten league campaign with a 1-0 win at Longwell Green, despite being without regular goalkeeper Ben Hillier and influentia­l centreback George Huke.

Stand-in Winterbour­ne goalkeeper Kieran Sullivan saved a firsthalf penalty. Soon after, Will Lacey scored the only goal of the game.
