BEST OF THE REST

-

GRANTCHESTER ITV, 9pm

THERE’S a lot going on in Grantchester tonight – it should be on the UK’s list of top crime hot spots. First, there’s been a break in at the local cinema, and the owners are in a panic. Then Mrs C (Tessa Peake-Jones) has a brick lobbed through the window of her front room. And after a bumpy start to their relationship, Will (Tom Brittney) and journalist Ellie (Lauren Carse) go on their first date with a trip to the flicks. But a scream from the projection booth cuts the date short as they discover a brutal murder has taken place within the cinema.

Barmy plot points aside, this all kicks off a predictable but pacy murder tale as Geordie (Robson Green) wades in to figure it all out.

JAMIE & JIMMY’S FRIDAY NIGHT FEAST Channel 4, 8pm

JAMIE OLIVER and Jimmy Doherty kick off the weekend with their cheeky chappy brand of banter in their caff at the end of Southend Pier.

Things are spiced up a bit this week as Mel B joins them for a spot of Caribbean cooking. Hardly the shy, retiring type, we can expect Mel to be frank and fearless as she gets involved.

The boys have tracked down Mel B’s grandmother on the island of Nevis to get the exact recipe Grandma Iris used to make for Carnival. Together they recreate the most incredible curry chicken, rice and peas, and Mel discovers just how much love went into Grandma’s recipe.

Meanwhile, the boys become cowboys for the day, putting in a shift farming British buffalo to make mozzarella.
