BEST OF THE REST
MY NEW GREEK LIFE Channel 5, 10pm
SINGLE for five years and keen for a new start, 55-year-old Kate is pulling what I’d call a Shirley Valentine.
For anyone unfamiliar with the 1989 movie starring Pauline Collins, it was about a middle-aged housewife who rekindles her zest for life and love in Greece.
“I’ve been engaged about four times but never actually seen a ring!” says Kate, who has moved to Crete.
She is hoping that the land of Aphrodite will be the place she finally finds love. “I saw Jason and the Argonauts as a child and fell in love with the men in skirts,” she says.
Meanwhile, in other news of people who have made a life changing move to Greece, we meet Laura, Ross and their two young boys.
Fed up with no work/life balance, they have hotfooted it out of Cornwall to live on a 42ft yacht.
But it won’t all be smooth sailing.
THE BRITS AT 40 ITV, 8pm
EFFORTLESSLY cool music awards ceremony The BRITs has reached the grand old age of 40, having been pulling in the best global artists since its first show in 1977.
Celebrating this upcoming 40th edition, hosted by Jack Whitehall at London’s O2 next Tuesday, this two-hour special delves into the archives.
Jack narrates an entertaining trip down memory lane, picking over the most memorable moments in BRITs history.
From Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox’s hosting disaster and Geri’s Union Jack dress, to that Oasis v Blur moment, Madonna’s calamitous cape and Stormzy’s speech, there’s plenty to talk about.
We’ll also be reminded of some of the biggest performances, from legends like Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and David Bowie, to Beyoncé Bee Gees and Prince.
There are also exclusive interviews with Mel B, Robbie Williams, Mick Fleetwood, Little Mix, Sam Smith, Sharon Osbourne, Dua Lipa, Davina McCall, Dizzee Rascal, Paloma Faith, Sir Tom Jones and Rick Astley.
A veritable songbook of stars.
