BEST OF THE REST

-

WHITE HOUSE FARM ITV, 9pm

FREDDIE Fox is just glorious to watch as Jeremy Bamber, the man convicted of killing five members of his family in their Essex farm house.

In this last episode, Bamber is enjoying some hedonistic days in the south of France, unaware that these are his final moments of freedom. Drinking cocktails and sleeping with rich, older women, it seems he is untouchable.

But back in the UK, Detective Sergeant Stan Jones, played by Mark Addy, is working on the evidence for Bamber’s trial.

He still faces opposition from boss Taff (Stephen Graham).

“I care a whole lot more about getting justice for them than I do about my bloody career,” Stan tells Taff, who believes Bamber is innocent.

Despite knowing the outcome of this fascinating true story, the courtroom scenes are still tense as everything reaches its climax.

Bamber remains creepily calm and composed in the face of the prosecution, but it’s emotional as Stan finally gets the moment he’s been waiting for.

THE HAIRY BIKERS’ CHOCOLATE CHALLENGE Channel 5, 9pm

JUMPING on the foodie contest band wagon, Dave Myers and Si King host this sweet competition in which contestants design their own chocolate bar.

It’s a fun prize, as seven people go head to head to create, brand and name their confectionary – their own spin on the legendary KitKat – which will eventually be rolled out nationwide.

But oddly, the wannabe Willy Wonkas have absolutely zero experience with chocolate – except for eating it.

Passionate chocoholics they may be, but they don’t know the first thing about working with the sweet stuff.

It’s a strange decision on the part of producers, with the result that this feels a bit like a challenge you might see on The Apprentice.

UK World Chocolate Master Ruth Hinks and the Hairy Bikers will judge the creations, and we’ll get facts from the Nestle factories along the way.

But expect inevitable mistakes and chocolate disasters as the amateurs melt under the pressure.
