Preserve your children’s lockdown memories with time capsule

-

WE face several more weeks in lockdown and there is no sign that schools will be opening any time soon.

These are strange, unsettling and unprecedented times - but one thing is for sure - we are all part of a significant moment in history.

The Chipper Club is about keeping your youngsters inspired and entertained during lockdown but we also want them to be able to remember this incredible event in the years to come.

So we have created a time capsule that can capture all their memories of lockdown 2020.

The free downloadable worksheets invite youngsters to draw pictures of their lockdown families and friends, capture how they’re keeping in touch with their communities and note down their favourite toys, movies, books and food.

They’re also asked to write a letter to their older self explaining what life is like right now in this sustained period of lockdown and homeschooling.

The Chipper Club was first created between the wars to entertain and inspire kids and it’s been recreated for a new generation of youngsters in lockdown.

Each week Chipper sets a Challenge for kids to complete and submit photographs of their work for publication online and in their local newspapers.

The challenges incorporate Chipper’s traditional themes of friendship, helping and obeying their parents, imparting a cheerful spirit and being kind to animals.

So far, the challenges have included:

» Creating a Smile Tree with every leaf depicting something that makes you happy;

» Drawing or painting a Thank You message for your doorstep heroes; and

It’s not too late to catch up - you’ll find all previous Challenges at https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/tag/chipper-club/

To sign your child up to the Chipper Club and get full details of how to submit this week’s project, all you need to do is fill in the form below or at this link.

Chipper Club is now on Facebook
