Popular market sets return date

-

ONE of Bristol’s most popular outdoor markets has announced when it will return.

The Tobacco Factory’s Sunday market has been closed since March. But now, with the government beginning to ease lockdown restrictions, the Tobacco Factory has announced its plans to relaunch the weekly event with social distancing measures in place.

Boris Johnson announced markets across the UK can resume from Monday – but it will be a little longer before people can return to the south Bristol market.

Sarah Ford, managing director of Tobacco Factory Enterprises, said: “Our Sunday Markets are to re-commence from Sunday, July 5 starting with food stalls. It’s set to be reduced in the number of traders in order to allow for appropriate social distancing. We’re very much looking forward to being able to welcome our traders and customers back.”

The indoor Makers Market, which opened in place of the Thali Cafe in December, is still running with a limited number of people using the space as their workshop. Tobacco Factory’s own Five Acre Farm shop is also continuing trading throughout the period of closure with a delivery and collection service.
