60 pupils self-isolate after Covid case
A PUPIL has tested positive for coronavirus at a school in Bristol.
Watermore Primary School in Frampton Cotterell has confirmed that one pupil in Year 5 has tested positive for Covid-19.
The confirmed case has meant that 60 pupils must self-isolate for two weeks as a precautionary measure.
A spokesperson for the school said: “We are supporting staff working at Watermore Primary School in Frampton Cotterell following a single confirmed case of
Covid-19 at the school.
“Following advice from Public Health England and the school’s own risk assessment, the parents/carers of 60 pupils in the Year 5 bubble have been informed that their child must be kept home and to isolate for two weeks as a precautionary measure as they are deemed to have been in close contact with the confirmed case.
“The rest of the school is remaining open and extra cleaning is being carried out.”
More than 30 schools in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire have had positive tests for coronavirus among their students or staff since term started – with more reporting “suspected” cases.
This comes after five more schools confirmed coronavirus cases in the past few days.
After less than a month back in the classroom, scores of pupils and staff are now self isolating following a turbulent start to the term.
