Murder charge case adjourned

THE case of a man charged with the murder of Andre Gayle was mentioned at Bristol Crown Court yesterday.

Jerome Lewis, 24, from Kimberley Place in Croydon, was not required to attend the brief hearing.

He has been charged with the murder of 29-year-old Mr Gayle, who died in hospital after being stabbed outside Easton Community Centre in the early hours of Monday, August 31.

Lewis’ barrister James Hasslacher, who appeared via video link, made no applicatio­n for bail on behalf of his client.

Judge Martin Picton adjourned the case to a plea and trial preparatio­n case at the court on October 26.

Lewis has been remanded in custody.

Mr Gayle died in hospital two days after suffering stab wounds during an incident in Easton in the early hours of August 31.

Police confirmed that 13 other people, aged between 16 and 40, have been arrested in connection with his death.
