EMILY IN PARIS Netflix
SEX and the City creator Darren Star has penned this cute but clichéd culture clash comedy.
Lily Collins (daughter of Phil) is a SUPER enthusiastic 20-something marketing executive from Chicago, who lands her dream job in Paris.
She doesn’t speak French, but who cares – “fake it till you make it!” she squeals.
Within four minutes of the first episode, Emily is fully settled in her new Parisien apartment, with a view that makes her feel like Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge.
A French man hits on her, assuming a boyfriend back in Chicago doesn’t count.
In her new office, think Devil Wears Prada as everyone is stereotypically mean.
By the end of day one, a lonely Emily’s Instagrammed her first pain au chocolat, met a handsome neighbour and found a BFF.
The fabulous fashion and lots of sidewalk strutting will remind you of Sex and the City, but otherwise, this might not quite break the same ground.
