JOIN THE DEBATE ON THE ISSUES OF THE DAY WITH LETTERS

SO Marvin Rees has entrusted the new history of Bristol Commission to a bunch of academics, Labour councillors and a trade unionist, with the audacity to call it ‘We Are Bristol’.

This already implies pompous self-importance and I have no confidence in a balanced, evenhanded approach from this group – particularly as one of the members is reported as strongly supporting the toppling and vandalism of Colston’s statue and thus advocating breaking the law.

I certainly don’t feel they represent Bristolians generally and believe that Marvin Rees has ‘done

a Boris’ in delegating responsibility to a group of people with an agenda of their own.
