Man, 34, jailed for theft of alcohol

-

A DRUG addict who plundered booze from a Bristol shop and restaurant has been jailed.

Paul Hunter targeted McColl’s in Temple Way as well as Aqua in Welshback, Bristol Crown Court heard.

The court was told his offending was linked to a long-term addiction to Class A drugs.

The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to commercial burglary, theft, possessing heroin and assault and asked for a second commercial burglary to be considered.

Judge Martin Picton jailed him for 10 months.

He told Hunter: “You have a depressing record.

“You have offended with depressing frequency.

“You cause significant harm when you offend and you harm society as well as yourself with the drug habit that plagues you.”

Nicholas Lee, defending, said his client worked in the prison prison and aspired to do a cookery course.

Mr Lee said: “He is able to visualize a better future for himself.”
