CHRIS EVANS returns as superhero Captain America AKA Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Saturday, BBC1, 10.25pm).

SHIELD, headed by Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury, is planning to launch three gigantic, weaponised drones with the intention of preventing all crime before it happens. When Fury is attacked, Captain America, along with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, are plunged into a mission to get to the bottom of SHIELD’s true intentions.

They’re also pursued by the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), a supervillain with a secret past.

This sequel is a bombastic extravaganza that’s as entertaining as the opening chapter.
