Motorsport Alfie pleased with his efforts in testing conditions
WITH storm Alex gripping the UK, round five of the Junior American Cup Car championship took place at the Birmingham Wheels Raceway under very wet and miserable conditions which really tested the driving skills of these young racers.
Racing with their wet tyres on for the first time this season, all the drivers showed great control to showcase some fantastic racing in the heats and final.
Due to his lead in the championship Alfie Gendall would start the heats on the back row and managed to work through the field to take second place in heat one and a first in heat two. The rain kept coming all day and heading into the final the youngsters had several large pools of water on the inside of the track to content with too, which if went through would cover these pocket-rocket cars, especially as they run no windscreens.
Alfie came away from the final with a second place which he was pleased with: “it was a good day today, despite the tricky conditions, and everyone did very well to keep it on track and not have too many incidents.
“I have come away with two trophies and some good points, and am still leading the championship with two rounds to go, so am pleased overall”.
