Suburban Filton keep unbeaten start going in the top flight

SIX weeks into the season and Filton Athletic are the only unbeaten side in the Premier Division.

Filton beat AFC Mangotsfie­ld 3-1, thanks to goals from Taylor Anderson, Jack Willmor and Alex Caffereo, to move within two points of the leaders with a game in hand.

Leaders Parson Street OB surprising­ly lost 3-2 at Ashton Vale against Rockleaze Rangers Reserves to lose their 100 per cent record.

Second-placed Stoke Gifford United drew 2-2 with North Bristol United, whose goals came from Ryan Sharpe and Mike Johnson.

At St Bede’s School, Lawrence Weston Athletic overcame Old Georgians 2-0 to move up to fourth place. Russ Church, Joe Weare and Grant Mathieson were on target for Stoke Rangers in a 3-1 win at St Aldhelms.

An inspired performanc­e from the Stockwood Wanderers Reserves goalkeeper, including saving a penalty, helped his team to end the unbeaten record of Senior Division leaders Redbridge with a 2-1 win.

Second-placed Wessex Wanderers drew 2-2 at Badminton Road against MPK Lofts. Jack Millard and Calum Rogers scored for Wessex.

Third-placed AFC Brislingto­n Reserves bounced back from successive defeats with a 4-1 home win over Ridings High.

Christian Sallows scored all three goals for Jamaica Bell in a 3-1 win over Bristol Telephone Reserves, while Almondsbur­y Reserves scored five without reply from Southmead CS at The Field.

In a derby at Creswicke Road, visitors Bristol Bilbao won 4-2 against Ashton United. Cory Clark, Ryan Elsbury, Matt Western and Evan Phillips scored for Bilbao, while Jack Thorley and Nick Winfield replied.

Keynsham Town A are rooted to the foot of the table after going down 4-0 at Bromley Heath United Reserves.

In Division One, Cosmos are setting the pace at the top after a 4-2 win at the Somerdale Pavilion against Stoke Gifford United Reserves, thanks to strikes from Oscar Mills (2), Claudio Precup and Vlad Bugnar.

Second-placed Broad Plain House are three points behind with an 100 per cent record after winning 2-0 at Park Knowle. Jack Scott struck a hat-trick at Blackhorse Road for AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves, who moved into third place with a 6-3 win over St Aldhelms Reserves. Ash Williams, Tim Rice and Stefan Aspel also scored for Mangotsfie­ld.

Shane Bulger hit a hat-trick for Filton Athletic Reserves in a 6-0 win against Corinthian Sports, with the other goals from Harry Garrett, Ben West and Billy Bennett.

Two teams have 100 per cent records in Division Two, with AFC Whitchurch, back playing after two weeks off for Covid-19 issues, beating Rockleaze Rangers B 6-3. Ricky Clark (4), Puer Carota and Kyle Avery scored the goals.

The second club with an unblemishe­d record are Cadbury Heath Reserves after they won 5-2 at Avonmouth Reserves. Brae Williams and Mitchell Quirke completed doubles, with Jamal Sims also on target for Heath.

Fishponds OB have a threepoint lead at the top after three goals from Ben Morris and one apiece from Greg Hough and Adam Whale secured a 5-2 win at Broad Plain House Reserves.

Fourth-placed Parson Street OB Reserves drew 2-2 at St Vallier, whose goals came from Finlay Dorrington and Nathan Taylor.

Tom Price scored a brace to help Old Georgians Reserves to a 4-3 victory at Stokeside. Ciaran Dodd and Ben Smith also scored for Georgians, while Stokeside had goals from Luke Brunt, Jonny Adams and Harvey Mitchell. Lawrence Weston Reserves edged out Lockleaze Community 2-1.

There was a surprise result at the top of Division Three as leaders Bedminster Down went down 5 2 at Brandon Sports, Connor Bodnarazek scored a hat-trick for Brandon, with Sam Nelson and Jack McMichael also on target. Matt Wood scored a double for Down.

Mark Slateford, with a brace, and an own goal helped Socius United to a 3-1 home win over Valhalla.

George Durbin is the leading goalscorer in the league after a hattrick in Long Ashton Victoria’s 5-0 home win against Avonmouth A took his tally to 13 for the season.

Luke Bowden scored for fourthplac­ed Wessex Wanderers Reserves in a 2-1 defeat at Stoke Gifford United A, while Ashton FC went down 3-2 at home to Bromley Heath United A.

AFC Corinthian­s are the new leaders of Division Four they travelled to Corinthian Sports Reserves and won 4-1 with goals from Tom and James Clark and Lee Edwards. Jacob Dodds struck the Sports’ consolatio­n goal.

Will Thomas struck a hat-trick for FC Union Bristol in a 5-0 success at Bradley Stoke C, with further goals from Vito Vitanov and Sid Gunton-Day.
