CLEVEDON Town gained a sixth successive win in the Toolstation League Premier Division with a 3-1 home success against struggling Bridport.

Micky Bell’s side moved up to second after first-half strikes from Morgan Davies and Syd Camper and a 72nd-minute goal from Elliot Nicholson. Bridport pulled a goal back in stoppage-time.

Cadbury Heath became the latest victims of Plymouth Parkway, whose 4-1 home win kept them 11 points clear at the top. Simon McElroy scored a penalty for Heath shortly before half-time, which made it 2-1, but there was no stopping the runaway leaders.

Chipping Sodbury remain rooted to the foot of the table after a 5-0 defeat at Bridgwater Town, whose goals came from Sam Crumb (2), Tom Fry, Sam Towler and Adnan Hiroli. Sodbury’s misearble day was compounded by two red cards in the second half.

In an exciting game at West Shepton, Brislington were denied victory by a superb curling strike from Matt Morris for the home side in stoppage-time, which made it 3-3.

Jack Fillingham’s 32nd-minute penalty put Shepton Mallet in front, but Brislington stunned the hosts with goals in the 34th, 41st and 48th minutes - the last one by Kye Simpson - before Morris reduced the deficit on 51 minutes and then salvaged a point for Shepton with his late strike.

Cribbs moved up to fourth on the back of a 2-1 win at Wellington. Ross McErlain’s back-post header gave Cribbs a half-time lead and, although Wellington equalised, Steve Murray grabbed a late winner with a deflected shot.

Hallen remain in the lower part of the table despite a spirited display in a 3-2 defeat at Exmouth Town. Callum Shipton fired Exmouth ahead on 18 minutes, but Jordan Ricketts equalised soon after from a free-kick. Max Gillard put Exmouth back in front before the break, and Jordan Harris made it 3-1 on 68 minutes. Rob Latham scored a second for Hallen with a 90th-minute header.

Welton Rovers stayed top of the First Division after goals from Kyle Box, Chris Pile and Courtney Charles secured a 3-0 home win against Warminster Town.

Second-placed Corsham Town made it seven wins out of seven with a 3-2 home win against Almondsbury, having trailed 2-1 at the break. Ashton Shanley, Jamal Chevolleau and Dan King scored for Corsham, while Stuart Alexander and Greg Parr, with a penalty, were on target for Almondsbury.

Third-placed Ashton & Backwell were held 1-1 at home by Hengrove Athletic, who were given a 25th-minute lead by Jack Jones - the son of Ashton & Backwell boss Stuart Jones. Harry Thomas-Baker was then the star of the show from Hengrove’s perspective as he saved two penalties, after 40 and 60 minutes, although he was unlucky to see Callum Townsend score the rebound from the second one, and pulled off several other good saves.

Bishop Sutton fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at home to Devizes Town, thanks to two goals from Sol Shearer and one from Dan Spill.

Matt Huxley’s penalty gave Oldland Abbotonians the lead at Wells City, but that was as good as it got as the home side ran out 4-1 winners. Longwell Green Sports’ struggles continued with a 6-1 defeat at Wincanton Town, who were 5-1 up at half-time.

In Hellenic League Division One West, second-placed Thornbury Town remain unbeaten following a 3-1 home win against Shortwood United.
