Suburban Dragotoiu does the trick for Cosmos in tight tussle with Cowboys

CATALIN Dragotoiu scored all three goals to help Cosmos to a 3-2 victory at Easton Cowboys Reserves to move five points clear at the top of Division One. Dan Proctor scored both the Cowboys goals.

Second-placed AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves were held to a goalless draw by Corinthian Sports, who gained their first point of the season.

Broad Plain, who have an 100 per cent record in third place, were one of 18 teams who had their games postponed because of Covid-19 issues, with their opponents Little Stoke Reserves the team affected.

Unbeaten Old Cothamians Reserves were involved in a highscorin­g game at Canford Park, edging out Imperial Reserves 6-5.

At North Road, Stoke Gifford United Reserves moved into midtable with a 5-2 home win over Rockleaze Rangers A.

Josh Bennett completed a hattrick and Connor Griffiths bagged a brace as Park Knowle won 5-4 at Headley Park against St Aldhelms Reserves, who were close to their first point of the season as they hit the post late on. Lucas Wring (2), Pete Dunn and Jordan Darrell were the Saints goalscorer­s.

In the Senior Division, previous leaders Parson Street OB suffered a second successive defeat. They started well at Stoke Rangers, taking a 2-0 lead, before Shane Heal pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 at half-time. Rangers struck four times in the second half to win 5-4, with Russ Church (2), Heal and James Fitzpatric­k on target.

The new leaders are Stoke Gifford United, who beat Old Cothamians 3-1 to move a point clear.

Harry Ball hit a hat-trick for AFC Mangotsfie­ld in a 6-0 win at Blackhorse Road against struggling St Aldhelms. Sam Dufosee, Ted Baber, with a penalty, and Brad Clarke added the other goals.

At Hillside Gardens, visitors Bristol Spartak took the points against Rockleaze Rangers A with a 2-1 success.

In midweek, promoted North Bristol United gained their first win of the season, 3-2 at Oaklands Park against Old Georgians. John Stephens (2) and Dec Green scored for United.

In the Senior Division, leaders Redbridge’s game at Keynsham Town A game fell a late victim to Covid-19, and they were joined at the top by AFC Brislingto­n Reserves following their 2-0 win at Southmead CS Athletic.

Wessex Wanderers lost 5-3 at South Bristol Sports Centre against Almondsbur­y Reserves, despite goals from Ieuan Jansson, Tom Trimble and Pete Lucas.

Simon Palmer and George Holgate scored for Jamaica Bell in a 2-1 win against Bristol Bilbao, whose Nathan Stokes replied.

Ashton United gained their first point in five games from a 3-3 draw at Ridings High. Ashton, who were 2-0 down, hit back with goals from Lewis Rudge, Nick Winfield and Jasper Mumuni.

Division Two leaders Fishponds OB were held 1-1 at home by Stokeside. Ben Morris scored for Fishponds and Jonny Doidge replied. Second-placed AFC Whitchurch beat Lockleaze Community 2-0, with goals from Ricky Clark and Mike Summerhaye­s.

St Vallier took all three points at Bristol Phoenix, with Finley Dorrington scoring the only goal.

Cadbury Heath Reserves fell to their first defeat of the season, 4-1 at home to Cutters Friday Reserves. Brae Williams scored for Heath. Rockleaze Rangers B beat Avonmouth Reserves 3-2.

Matt Wood struck twice for Division Three leaders Bedminster Down in a 3-3 draw against thirdplace­d Socius United. Jack Szur (2) and Mark Slateford struck for United, while the leaders had an own goal to go with Wood’s brace.

Second placed Long Ashton Victoria won 5-1 at Valhalla, thanks to goals from Leatham (2), Watson, Baker and an own goal. Ben Price scored a hat-trick for Brentry Athletic, who won 7-5 against Ashton FC.
