Cafe chain to move into ex-River Cottage site

-

BOSTON Tea Party has announced it is closing another of its Bristol cafes.

Having closed its Clifton Village site, which will reopen as an Eat a Pitta restaurant next month, it has revealed its Whiteladies Road cafe will also be shutting permanently.

However there is good news for fans of the independent chain, which started out in Bristol before expanding across the UK, as it will open a new cafe in the building previously home to River Cottage Kitchen on Whiteladies Road in 2021.

The group will amalgamate the two cafes into the new 150-cover site, with staff from the Clifton Village and Whiteladies Road sites coming together to open the doors “early next year”.

Boson Tea Party CEO and co-owner Sam Roberts said: “We’ve long since admired this beautiful building, built in 1894 and within the demise of the Grade II listed St John’s church, so when we heard it was available, we jumped at the chance.

“The team behind River Cottage Kitchen did a fantastic job with sympathetic refurbishment and we look forward to serving purposeful breakfast, lunch and tea in this wonderful corner of Bristol.”

Boston Tea Party on Whiteladies Road will reopen when the second lockdown ends in December, before closing permanently ahead of the move.

The new venue will serve up ethically sourced food and drink, including BTP’s award-winning breakfasts and lunches alongside speciality coffees, loose-leaf teas and homemade smoothies and juices.
