Get cracking – and join the Big Fix Up adventure!

THE wait is nearly over for Wallace and Gromit’s latest adventure – a trip into the world of augmented reality in which Bristol takes centre stage.

As part of the fun build-up to the launch of the app, the Post has been running a cartoon strip every day setting the scene for Wallace and Gromit’s adventure – and today we’re publishing the final strip of the 10-part series.

The cartoon tells how Wallace & Grimit set up Spick and Spanners ready for their big new adventure.

For the first time ever, er, Wallace and Gromit will bring fans directly into their advendvent­ures via The Big Fix Up: a first of its kind, free storydrive­n experience that promises to bring together gether the popular characters acters and state-of-the-art technology.

Partnering with multi award-winning animation mation studio Aardman, Fictionict­ioneers: a consortium of British companies including luding Potato, Sugar Creative ve and

Tiny Rebel Games, s, with research support from the University niversity of South Wales, is producing g an exciting augmented and mixed d reality lit experiexpe­ri ence featuring Wallace & Gromit and backed by funding from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).

Fans will be able to join Wallace and his faithful hound as their latest business venture, Spick & Spanners, takes on the contract of a lifetime: to ‘Fix Up’ Bristol. Fans will be invited to download a free app and play along at home, and for the first time be able to step directly into the world of Wallace & Gromit – from fixing Wallace’s malfunctio­ning techno-trousers, to saving their rocket.

The new story is an entirely homebased experience, meaning it is accessible to all with a recent ARcompatib­le smartphone (see www. thebigfixu­p.co.uk/deviceguid­e).

Thanks to 3D mapping platform, Fantasmo, Fictioneer­s will bring together an unpreceden­ted cityscale augmented reality experience, which will see Bristol city centre come to life at home – bringing College Green and Millenium Square directly into your home.

Wallace and Gromit’s heart and soul is in stop motion, but they have often dabbled in the cutting-edge of tech, and this is one of those occasions.
