BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

DAN BENTLEY - 8

Could do little about Johnson’s first-time shot that bobbled along into the far corner just before the break, before two good stops to deny Naylor and then Jacobs. Terrific block at the death to deny Hiwula-Mayifuila.

ADRIAN MARIAPPA - 6

Too often trouble came down his flank, with Cannon getting down the visitors’ left and crossing low to set up the equaliser. Was alert to keep out a run from Brown after the break though, and won several duels late on.

TOMAS KALAS - 8

Magnificent in repelling crosses, blocking shots and leaping in front of the Pompey attackers to nick the ball in midfield. Showed his class at the back for City as he continued his good form.

ALFIE MAWSON - 7

Returned for his first game since being injured in October. Given an hour before Taylor Moore replaced him - obviously part of his recovery - and showed his class, dominating physically at the back. TOMMY ROWE - 6

Quick into the tackle and some good blocks, not least when he stopped a Jacobs shot in the first half. Created little with his crosses but did at least get forward on occasions.

TYREEQ BAKINSON - 6

Good block to stop a Jacobs shot causing trouble early on and some nice first-time passing. Went close to scoring as he almost met a good cross but also gifted away the ball at times.

ADAM NAGY - 6

Pressed in midfield with good energy and started several good moves. A few long passes were picked off however, as he tried to find Martin and Diedhiou.

HAKEEB ADELAKUN - 6

Combined neatly with Diedhiou before the opening goal and several nice touches in midfield to keep moves flowing. Not a great free-kick just before the break, and he looked a little leggy as Wells replaced him just after the hour-mark.

ANTOINE SEMENYO - 7

Turned his markers several times to run at the defence and almost won a penalty when fouled by Nicolaisen. Occupied four players at times and had lots of shots. CHRIS MARTIN - 8

Drew a save from MacGillivray early on. His free-kick then curled wide, and a kick to thin air after the break but he saved the best for last: blasting into the top corner for his fourth goal of the season. FAMARA DIEDHIOU - 8

Started well with a shot blocked before he threaded through to Martin. May have strengthened his hand further in contract negotiations as he showed his class to open the scoring with a low strike for his fourth goal of the season, too. SUBSTITUTES

TAYLOR MOORE (for Mawson, 65 mins) -6

Replaced the returning Fulham man and produced a good sliding interception in the box on 75 minutes.

NAHKI WELLS (for Adelakun, 65 mins) -6

Caused Brown to foul him and gain a yellow card early after coming on but a few too many loose touches thereafter. HAN-NOAH MASSENGO (for Nagy, 77 mins) - n/a

Almost got on the scoresheet as Martin picked him out, but Wells got in the way. ZAK VYNER (for Tyreeq Bakinson, 81 mins) - n/a

Added some zip in the middle, with one lovely pass fizzed out to Semenyo.
