Beacon is ready for its first event
ONE of Bristol’s most famous music venues is gearing up to host its first event since its name was changed.
Colston Hall was renamed Bristol Beacon in September 2020. The reopening of the revamped main hall is not expected until October 2023, but events are planned in the spacious foyer.
Super Cool Drawing Machine – described as a “celebration of the visual art created by a host of internationally acclaimed, touring musicians” – will take place between Thursday, May 20 and Sunday, May 23.
The exhibition will showcase artwork from musicians, including saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, Mercury-nominated Welsh singer Cate Le Bon, experimental folk musician Richard Dawson and drummer Seb Rochford.
Work by well-known Bristol gig-goer ‘Big’ Jeff Johns will also be on display in his debut art exhibition ‘Welcome To My World’.
