Katherine Kelly, right, is captivating in the second series of this crime drama, on four nights this week.

It begins at an ending of sorts, as her character Sally Wright, a teacher accused of killing a teenage boy, nervously awaits her verdict in court.

Sixteen-year-old Matty Taylor was brutally murdered in the quiet Lake District five years ago; stabbed with a broken cider bottle.

Having admitted to taking special interest in the boy, and unable to prove her whereabouts, Sally was convicted and sentenced to a minimum of 15 years.

But new evidence has come to light and Sally claims to be the victim of a terrible miscarriage of justice.

A top cast includes Jamie Bamber, Shaun Dooley and Lucy Black.

THE NEVERS

This supernatural Victorian thriller starts with a strange eclipse, which leaves many people with some abnormal abilities – from the wondrous to the disturbing.

Now it’s three years later and these ‘touched’ people belong to a new underclass where they are stigmatised and feared.

Fortunately, in true superherostyle, a mysterious duo (pictured) – quick-fisted widow Amalia True (Lara Donnelly) and brilliant inventor Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) – take it upon themselves to protect these gifted women.

Meanwhile, masked riders are hunting the ‘touched’ and there’s a serial killer on the loose. Watch out for star turns from James Norton, Tom Riley and Olivia Williams.
