I want plan to be honoured
I WOULD like to correct Kevin Hill in his statement saying that I said the council has no money to build council houses.
I actually said they don’t build council houses because there is no money in it for them!
This is because when new estates are built with the proviso that a percentage are affordable homes, they then sell these homes off to housing associations. The housing associations collect rent on these properties that could be going to the council if they were council owned.
I also take umbrage at Mr Hill implying that because I’m not happy about an area of green space, trees and wildlife being concreted over for 1,400 houses, I am driving up the price of said houses!
I just want the airfield developed sympathetically, taking account of existing residents and honouring what was agreed by the council and our local Neighbourhood Planning Forum over a two-year negotiating period.
This has been totally ignored despite being backed by a referendum and was eventually overturned by a government official who has no idea of what the area looks like or needs.
I am not selfish, or mean spirited, I don’t want to shut my door, or put the kettle on and ignore Bristol’s homeless. I just want the council and government to honour a plan that was developed in a democratic way after discussion and compromise.
Something which now seems a total waste of time and money. Par for the course with this council and government!
