Most think it’s a disgrace

I WRITE in response to Jon Elbert’s letter of June 18 stating that most people are glad that Colston’s statue is gone.

He is not speaking for the majority of Bristolians because most of them think it’s absolutely disgraceful how the statue is left in a museum covered in graffiti.

The truth is most people would like to see it restored and put back where it belongs – on the plinth in the centre of our city.

There has even been a movement to put this to the vote so if he or anyone really wants to know what the people of Bristol think, let’s have the vote. Even the mayor said it would be up to the people – but they all know that left to the people Colston would return to the city centre.
