OFFICIALS are hoping that a good weekend weather forecast will prove to be accurate so progress can be made in both the Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Cup and Stuart Canvas Gloucestershire Trophy.

Three ties are scheduled for Sunday in both competitions.

In the cup, Thornbury – celebrating their 150th anniversary – will welcome Bedminster while Golden Hill will be the underdogs at home against Cheltenham and Knowle are set to host Painswick.

Frampton-on-Severn, meanwhile, will entertain Tewkesbury in the trophy, while the other two ties will see Langford pitted against Cam, and Westburyon-Severn against Hanham. ROCKHAMPTON are through to the last 16 of the Voneus Village Cup after completing a rainaffected nine-wicket home victory over Yelverton Bohemians.

The Rams, beaten Lord’s finalists in 2013, restricted their visitors to 155 all out, Matt Belbin claiming 6-31 from eight while there was also a return of 3-40 from Jamie Wakefield.

Rain meant that Rockhampton were set a revised target of 86 from 22 overs which they cruised to thanks to runs from skipper Martin Cropper (35), Will Tyler (26 not) and Harry Collins (21 not).

Rockhampton will now be home again on July 4 against Horspath, of Oxfordshire, or Swansea side Ynystawe who meet on Sunday. BRIDGWATER will host the final stages of WEPL’s qualifying competition for the ECB National Club Twenty20 on Sunday July 11.

The Somerset side will face off against Bath in the first semi-final at 10.30am, followed by Potterne meeting Thornbury at around 1.30pm.

The winners of both ties will then face each other at approximately 4.30pm for the right to progress to the last 24 nationally.

AMIT Aswani claimed 5-22, including the final wicket to fall off the penultimate ball of the match, as Bristol Eagles secured a tense two-run victory away to Churchways in the quarter-finals of the Bateman Trophy.

Raja Nadeem (3-21) and Ismail Asif (3-23) were the pick of the Churchways attack as the Eagles were bowled out for a total of 103.

And it proved to be just enough thanks to Aswani with Sandeep Singh also capturing 2-14 from his five.

The Eagles will now be home to Pucklechurch who were 32-run victors at Carsons & Mangotsfield, Adam Young top scoring on 65 and Ryan Watts taking 4-37.

Barrow Gurney breezed past Alveston by 109 runs to earn a home date with Saltford who were six-run victors at Patchway.

Both semi-finals will take place on July 7.

Tony Hitch Cup quarter-final line-up: Timsbury v Bradley Stoke, Cleeve v Pak Bristolians, Backwell Flax Bourton v Bitton, Bristol Pakistanis v Bristol West Indian Phoenix.

Ties to be played Wednesday.
