Not all doom and gloom
✒ WHEN global warming was first mooted about 20 years ago we were promised vineyards and sweetcorn as far north as Scotland, and orange groves, dates and coconut palms and apricots in the Midlands.
At the moment we have gooseberries and rhubarb to make do with.
To get a crop of tomatoes ripening before August they must be planted in greenhouses.
We had runner beans for lunch on Sunday. Unfortunately they had to come by air miles from Kenya as mine were still in flower.
Ho hum, still waiting. It’s not all doom and gloom.
