Takeover is approved

EUROPEAN regulators have approved AstraZeneca’s 39 billion dollar takeover of Alexion Pharmaceuticals.

The deal, announced in December, will give Astra access to five new drugs, and nearly a dozen more in Alexion’s pipeline. The approval from Brussels means Astra has cleared an important hurdle in its takeover of the New York-listed firm.
