Hit bands to play intimate warm-up shows in city

-

TWO popular bands are lined up to play gigs in Bristol later this month.

Royal Blood, pictured inset, and Bombay Bicycle Club are used to performing in sold-out arenas and on the world’s biggest festival stages, but both acts are heading to the city to play ‘intimate’ warm-up shows.

Rock duo Royal Blood, whose third album Typhoons topped the charts in May, will get back to doing what they do best at Bristol’s O2 Academy on July 21 before embarking on a major European arena tour early next year.

It will be the band’s first live show in almost two years – their most recent being their set at Leeds Festival in August 2019.

Bombay Bicycle Club, meanwhile, are due to perform at SWX on July 24 before their headline set at Latitude Festival the following day.

The beloved indie quartet are also headlining Lost Village and All Points East this summer.

Speaking about the Bristol gig, they said: “We are delighted to announce that we will be playing some warm up shows before Latitude Festival this month.

“Last year all of our touring plans were cut short and these will be some of the first shows we get to play our ‘new’ album.

“At least everyone has had the time to learn the words. We can’t wait.”

The final coronavirus restrictions are due to end on July 19.

Tickets for both shows go on sale at 9am tomorrow at www.gigsandtours.com
