STEVE Snell walloped 180 off only 122 balls to help pave the way for Bedminster to cruise past Downend by 250 runs and make it three wins on the bounce in Premier One of the West of England Premier League.

The Somerset Academy manager’s second league ton of the summer featured 15 fours and 11 fours as he put on 183 for the first wicket with Max Tryfonos (84).

Snell was eventually run out in the penultimate over for the second highest individual score this year in the competition. Gloucestershire’s Tom Price joined in the fun with an unbeaten 61 from 38 balls as their side piled up a tremendous 385-4.

Price then gave the home side the perfect start by claiming an early wicket. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals as scoreboard pressure intensified, with spinners Tryfonos (4-30) and captain George Drissell (4-45) sharing the spoils.

Bedminster remain sixth but in good heart as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Lansdown, who moved up a place to third following a 33-run victory at Bridgwater.

Potterne replaced Clevedon as leaders after completing a 45-run victory away to their rivals. Graham Wiseman’s 77 and 48 from opener Jake Goodwin saw the Wiltshire side to 254, with Dan Williams, Matt Carpenter and Cameron Harding taking two wickets apiece. The target proved to be out of reach for Clevedon, despite the efforts of Harry Ellison (83) and opener Greg Willows (36).

Bath were six-wicket home victors over Taunton Deane, and Chippenham moved off the foot of the table thanks to an eight-wicket success away to Cheltenham.

Bristol continued their unbeaten run at the top of Premier Two Bristol/Somerset with a 65-run triumph away to Frome. Harry Thompson’s 106 helped lift the visitors from 67-4 to 262-8 before Dan Jones (3-49) and Sam Brewer (2-31) wrapped up the points.

Tristan Jungbauer top-scored on 81 for Bishopston, who dispatched struggling Bath 2nds by 117 runs.

Opener Max Harsham (37) was the next highest scorer as the Bristol side reached 228 all out before Bath folded to 111 all out against the threats of Dave Williams (3-13), Will Thirkell (3-24), Dan Harris (2-8) and Dave O’Brien (2-6).

Winterbourne were bowled out for 125 at home to Ilminster but still went on to win by 31 runs and move out of the relegation zone.

Ben Parker’s patient 39 from 65 proved to be crucial for the South Gloucestershire side, whose heroes with the ball were Nick Crane (4-15 from nine overs) and James Williams (3-29).

It was a good day too for Westonsuper-Mare, who compiled 302-6 after winning the toss at home to North Perrott. Opener Sam Elstone (124), veteran Andy Fear (78) and Ryan Davies (50) enjoyed the conditions before two wickets apiece from Matt Knight, Chris Davidson and Shabil Ahmed completed a 77-run success.
