FOUR IN COURT AFTER MAN SHOT AND STABBED
VICTIM SUFFERED GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO BUTTOCKS, JURY TOLD
AMAN accused of robbery was shot twice in the buttocks in an attack in broad daylight in Kingswood, a jury heard.
Shaquille Thompson was blamed for stealing two Rolex watches from jeweller Dominic Stewart, who was selling them on behalf of friends.
Bristol Crown Court was told that, following a pre-arranged meeting, three men attacked Mr Thompson on busy Hill Street at around 2pm.
He was shot in the buttocks twice and stabbed in the thigh, the court was told.
Three men face a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as affray, on December 14 last year.
They are Adelaja Brown, 31, of Chapel Road, Easton; Taurean Thompson, 31, of Hollow Road, Kingswood; and Andre Williams, 31, of no fixed address.
Taurean Thompson also faces a charge of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Tyree Sutherland, 31, of Chaplin Road, Bristol, faces charges of assisting an offender and possessing a firearm without authority.
Jenny Tallentire, prosecuting, said the Crown’s case was that all four accused played their part in the attack.
She told the court: “Taurean Thompson was the man who held the firearm during the attack on Hill Street.
“Tyree Sutherland was responsible for taking the firearm away from the scene after the attack, and disposing of it.
“Adelaja Brown, Taurean Thompson and Andre Williams are also charged with affray, to reflect the fact that their violence on the street that day caused innocent people to fear for their own safety.”
The jury was told that, after the alleged robbery, a meeting was arranged with Mr Thompson and violence flared between him and the accused in Baxter Close.
Miss Tallentire said: “The Crown’s case is that two shots were fired in Baxter Close.
“Later, a metal projectile (bullet) was found on the ground in Baxter Close, close to where vehicle debris was also found.
“Witnesses who were nearby heard the sound of the shots – some initially thought it was the sound of fireworks.
“Shaquille Thompson ran from Baxter Close, around the corner into Hill Street. Witnesses saw him chased by three men.
“The Crown’s case is that Adelaja Brown was the first in pursuit and Taurean Thompson was second.
“The attack on Shaquille Thompson, which continued on Hill Street, was witnessed by passing motorists and caught on some dashcams and a mobile phone.”
The jury is being shown a compilation of footage as evidence in the trial.
The court heard a friend of Shaquille Thompson drove him to Southmead Hospital, where he was treated for two gunshot wounds as well as a stab wound.
Brown says he took no part in violence.
Taurean Thompson says he tried to help his friend, Williams, and Shaquille Thompson pulled out a firearm and must have accidentally shot himself.
Williams says he was working at the Chip Inn and watched what happened but was not involved.
Sutherland’s case is he never had a firearm in his possession.
