Dame Sarah Storey has achieved her aim of becoming the most decorated British Paralympian, winning her 17th gold medal of an extraordinary career stretching back over eight Paralympics.
After cycling to victory in the C5 3,000m event on day one in Tokyo, she struck gold twice more in the time trial and road race.
As a 14-year-old swimmer, Sarah, who was born without a functioning left hand, won her first two gold medals – plus three silvers and a bronze – at Barcelona in 1992.
After adding ten more medals (three gold) at the next three Paralympics, she switched to cycling aged 28, winning two more golds at Beijing 2008, four at London 2012 and three at Rio 2016.
