FOUR wickets apiece from Gloucestershire paceman Dom Goodman and spinner Max Tryfonos helped Bedminster hold off Thornbury and make it three successive victories in WEPL Premier One.

Steve Snell (60), skipper Sai Kamuni (55), Tryfonos (45) and Cameron Melly (43) all made their mark in Bedminster’s challenge of 309-8 after losing the toss at the Ship Field, as Harry Wormwell captured 4-67.

Dan Lezar (101 off 106 balls) and Ed Webb (48) then gave Thornbury’s reply the perfect start with an opening stand of 140, while the home side progressed nicely to 274-4 after 46 overs.

But Goodman then crucially dismissed Josh Slade for 31 and the dangerous Josh Riggs off successive deliveries, finishing with 4-71, while Tryfonos turned the screw with three late strikes en route to figures of 4-50 to close out the victory, with Thornbury dismissed for 294.

Leaders Potterne also stretched their 100 per cent record to three outings with an 89-run home triumph over champions Clevedon.

Captain Neil Clark’s 121 propelled the village side to an imposing 380-7 before Clevedon came up well short, despite Gloucestershire’s Jared Warner top-scoring on 76.

Bath remain second following a five-wicket triumph away to Bridgwater, Chippenham held off Taunton St Andrews by two runs and Lansdown were one-wicket home victors against Taunton Deane.

» Leaders Knowle trumped Bradley Stoke by six wickets to continue a promising start to their Bristol & North Somerset division campaign.

Captain Ollie Haynes, fresh from scoring two successive centuries, struck with a return of 4-26 from ten overs to restrict Bradley Stoke, who won the toss, to a total of 141.

Haynes (40) and opener Ryan Pietersen (39) then ensured few problems for Knowle, who are next away to unbeaten rivals Twyford House, who eased in by four wickets away to Bath 2nds. Mark Fowler (69 retired) and opener Alec Bosomworth (52) took charge of Twyford’s chase to a target of 207.

Keynsham were another side to make it three wins from three, but it could not have been much tighter as neighbours Brislington were edged out by one wicket off the last ball of the game.

Milo Ayres (53) top-scored in a Bris challenge of 150, as James Burston captured 4-29. Keynsham were struggling in reply at 99-8 but still got over the line thanks to Jonty Flynn (30 not out) and Harry Mattingley (19) before Tom Bryan grabbed the winning run.

Congresbury maintained their 100 per cent record with victory away to OB Westbury, and promoted Bedminster 2nds completed their first win, seeing off their Bristol counterparts by three wickets, with George Davey unbeaten on 65.

» Rockhampton slipped to a 67-run reverse at home to Frocester 2nds in the Gloucestershire division, with wicketkeeper Jack Spence top-scoring on 38.
