Driver of stolen vehicle rams police car trying to evade arrest
A STREET in Bristol was closed yesterday after police responded to reports of a stolen car, which led the driver to ram a police vehicle in the driver’s attempt to evade arrest.
During the struggle, one member of the public was hospitalised with ‘serious injuries’ which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Three police cars were also damaged in the incident which happened just after midday and took place off Summerhill Road in St George.
The driver was subsequently arrested and was last night in custody.
A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said: “Officers responded to a report a car had been stolen from an address in St George.
“The driver of the stolen vehicle subsequently rammed a police car while attempting to evade arrest just off Summerhill Road.
“Three police cars were damaged in the incident and a member of the public was also injured.
“They have since been taken to hospital with injuries which are serious but aren’t believed to be lifethreatening.”
