Green out of luck again as Clevedon edge tight tussle

CASTLE Green are still searching for their first points of their Churches League Division One campaign following a 4-3 defeat to Clevedon Family Church at Clevedon School.

Green had goals from Jacob Hartrey (2) and Luke Tucker in a battling display, but strikes from Samuel Dewfall, Lewis Mundy, Joshua Boyle and Jamie van der Velde were suffice to secure victory for Clevedon.

In a top-of-the-table Division Two game at Somerdale, leaders One Church made it four wins out four with a 9-3 victory against Bath Churches United.

Michael Bojski and James Bojski both scored hat-tricks, while Cameron Laleye scored two of the other One Church goals. The Bath marksmen were Joel Freeborn, Andy Harrop and Toby Lansdell.

There were plenty of goals, too, at Patchway Community College where United Bristol CRC beat Rock Crusaders Reserves 7-2.

Mandiaye Samb completed a hat-trick and the other goals for the home side came from Zaid Abusido, George Aldous, Sam Blundell and Michael Richards. William Ponting and Jack Stiddard struck for Rock. ECF Portishead inflicted a first defeat on Spartak Woodlands with a 2-1 win at Clevedon School. Ethan Monks and Sam Downe scored their goals.

» In Division Two of the Downs League, Sporting Turin moved to within two points of leaders with a 3-1 victory against Torpedo Reserves.

Bengal Tigers are in third place following a 5-0 win against Evergreen Athletic, while Durdham Down AS are in fourth after beating Clifton St Vincents Reserves 5-3.

Old Cliftonian­s are still looking for their first win of the season after going down 2-1 to Saints OB Reserves.

In the only Division Three game played due to teams being involved in county cup games, Portland OB Reserves beat bottom side Helios 5-1 to move up to fifth.

In Division Four, Jersey Rangers Reserves made it six wins out of six with a 2-1 success against Sneyd Park B.

Saints OB B kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 2-0 win against Clifton St Vincents B. Bottom side Racing Mouse still have just one point to show for their efforts after a 2-1 defeat to Retainers Reserves.
