DOG lovers are in for a treat this weekend with the return of a sausage dog cafe to Bristol. A bar in Bristol is set to be filled with dachshunds for one day only for a special festive event this weekend.

After the success of The Cockapoo Cafe over the summer, organisers Pop + Bark are returning to Revolucion De Cuba for a festive Dachshund takeover this Sunday. It promises an 80-minute off-the-lead social experience for dog owners and their furry friends from 10am.

Organiser Anushka Fernando said: “We’ve taken our original Dachshund Cafe concept and given it that Christmas sparkle! With our famous Pupuccino Bar, Doggy Bakery, Santa Sleigh for dogs, lots of cute Christmas props and doggy-sized furniture and of course a playlist full of Christmas songs. If you want to get into the spirit of Christmas, this is the perfect way to kickstart it!”

You don’t need to own a dachshund to visit. Organisers say whether you have previously had a dachshund and miss them so, you long for your own dachshund or just love them, this is the event for you.

It will be a circus-themed event with lots of photo opportunities and shareable moments promising the pups a good time. Dog parents will be able to bring their Dachshund to meet Santa Paws in real life along with a Santa’s Sleigh just for dachshunds.

For food and drink, dogs can slurp a cup of festive pupucinno from the mobile bar or try some of the “pupcorn” in a variety of different flavours.

There will also be a Doggy Bakery with Christmas Pupcakes, Gingerbread Men and Cookies along with a Pop Up Doggy Boutique for all your dog’s Christmas shopping.

Organisers will be running a competition for the ugliest Christmas jumper and prizes for the best outfit. Humans will also be offered a delicious menu with food and cocktails from Revolucion de Cuba.

Dachshund enthusiasts must book a ticket in advance for the event on Sunday. The session at Revolucion de Cuba starts at 10am and finishes at 11.30am, with those bringing their sausage dog being asked to book a slot for their furry friend.

If you’re coming along to the event as an owner or a friend of a dachshund owner, you’ll receive a discount on your ticket. The prices are as follows:

Dog ticket - free; Child under six free; Dachshund owner or guest (16 and over) - £8.75; Dachshund owner or guest (16 and under) - £7.25; Dachshund fan without dog (16 and over) - £12.75; Dachshund fan without dog (16 and under) - £7.75.
