BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

MAX O’LEARY - 7

Was a spectator for the majority of the first half. The trend continued into the second half with Watford failing to register a shot on target.

ZAK VYNER - 8

Excellent in the opening 45 minutes, working well alongside Weimann to close off the space on the right. Won his individual battles and stayed disciplined. Offered a different test on Sarr’s introduction but maintained his concentration to limit Watford to little.

ANDY KING - 8

Was trusted to start in the middle of the back three and was given a really tough assignment up against Kienan Davis. A lot of pressure on his performance but stood up to the battle and used his experience to come out on top. Positionally faultless.

CAM PRING - 8

Pearson called for players to show they were up for the fight and Cam Pring certainly showed that. Remained strong in the tackle and there was no hesitation to press forward when handed the opportunity. Has done no harm in making that position his own.

JAY DASILVA - 8

Was given space to work with in attack and produced two teasing crosses in the first half - one which almost found the run of Scott and another that hit Weimann at the back post. Almost had an assist for the Austrian when his header was superbly tipped around the post. Defensively really sound.

ANDI WEIMANN - 8

Superb in the opening 45 minutes, covering every blade of grass. Defensively stuck to his task and managed to get forward at every opportunity at wingback. Came within inches of scoring when his header was superbly tipped around the post. It was Weimann back to his best.

MATTY JAMES - 8

So disciplined as the deepest of the midfielders and was one of the main reasons why Watford’s attack caused such little trouble. Read the game superbly, breaking up possession and playing it simple into Williams and Scott.

JOE WILLIAMS - 8

Lost count of the number of tackles he was involved in. Seemed to thrive under the pressure of the importance of the fixture and ensured Watford struggled to play through the midfield. Was dead on his feet at the full-time whistle.

ALEX SCOTT - 8

Ran the show in the first half, epitomised by some superb skill down by the dugout which kick-started a City attack. Really positive in trying to get the ball forward. Just couldn’t provide that moment of brilliance to unlock Watford’s backline.

NAHKI WELLS - 7

Adamant he should have had a penalty in the first half, and rightly so, when on the receiving end of a high boot. Had another claim when he was pulled back in the box. Worked incredibly hard.

TOMMY CONWAY - 7

Had the game’s first opportunity but his tame effort was comfortably saved. Should have opened the scoring in the second half when he dragged his leftfooted effort wide. His pace caused problems for the Watford backline. SUBSTITUTES

ANTOINE SEMENYO (for Conway, 67 mins) - 6
