Man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving
A CAR ended up on its roof after hitting a lamppost and a lorry on Gloucester Road yesterday morning.
The collision, at around 5.30am, also resulted in a wheel from the vehicle coming loose and hitting the window of a nearby bar, causing it to smash.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a car had hit a “number of concrete bollards and a lamppost before colliding with a lorry parked on the roadside” as part of the incident.
“Significant damage” was caused to the vehicle during the collision, police said.
The vehicle also ended up on its roof, which led to the road being closed for a period of time while officers attended.
The driver, a man in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and drugs. He was being treated in hospital yesterday.
Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the crash to get in contact.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 5.30am officers were called to a road traffic collision on Gloucester Road, Bristol.
“The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and drugs.
“He was then taken to hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.”
