Sport Vogue Twirlers enjoy great success at National Championsh­ips

VOGUE Twirlers attended the 38th NBTA National Championsh­ips in Torbay and won 27 national titles and a total of 80 awards between just 20 athletes.

These included four in team events, namely juvenile beginner dance team, senior novice dance team, senior novice twirl team and pom corp.

The troupe showed their dominance again in military struts as four members competed in the the two age-group sections of the Ron Stiff Memorial Trophy. After winning her section, Ebony Belcher marched away in the intermedia­te/ advance category to scoop the perpetual award.

Three members, Elishia Freeman, Charlotte Howard and Rebecca Lewis, completed their level one coaching qualificat­ions. Various members also completed their one and two level exams.

The October half-term week also included selections to represent England in the European Championsh­ips, to be held in Italy in 2023.

Ebony Taiwo was selected in junior solo one baton, two baton, rhythmic twirl and reserve in xstrut. Skyia Smith will also represent her country in senior xstrut strut with the duo combining in junior duet.

The troupe who train in Weston- super-Mare, but have male and female athletes throughout the South West are now setting rou- tines and looking to 2023 as the

World Championsh­ips will be held in Liverpool, England.
