£150 in coins fished out of seaside pond

-

PEOPLE are being urged not to throw coins into a fish pond at a North Somerset park – after £150 was found in the bottom.

Council staff were staggered to find coins totalling £150 found in the bottom of the fish pond at Clarence Park in Weston-super-Mare.

The cash was discovered during a project to refurbish the pond in the seaside park.

The money has now been donated to the Royal British Legion.

A council spokesman said: “We are asking people not throw coins into the pond. This is unhelpful to the pond’s environment and not good for the fish. We are urging people not to throw any more coins in and instead donate directly to a charity of your choice.”
