Suburban Mangotsfield roar back to take a point against Lawrence Weston
THE Bristol Suburban League was delighted to have Women’s Super League and FIFA referee Stacey Pearson referee the Premier Division game between Mangotsfield United Reserves and Lawrence Weston Athletic at Blackhorse Lane.
It was a game of two halves with Lawrence Weston racing into a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes through goals from Joe Mills, Matthew Bennett and Leevan Uhlyk. Just before halftime, United pulled a goal back from Jasper Hudd.
Mangotsfield made two changes at half-time, and after 70 minutes Stephen Wingrove made it 3-2. Then, in stoppage-time, Sam Dufosee equalised with a shot which went in off the bar. An excellent game was controlled by Stacey in a calm and authoritative manner, with no bookings. The league would like to thank Stacey for stepping in to help grassroots football.
The top two in the Premier Division were in GFA Senior Cup action with leaders Avonmouth having a 6-1 win over Nicholas Wanderers, with goals from Charlie Aldom (2), Ben Allison (2), Alfie Taylor and Tom Cox. Second-placed Filton Athletic lost 3-0 at Gloucestershire
County League side Cribbs Reserves.
Tommy Milkins bagged a brace as St Aldhelms continued their good form with a 3-2 victory over Old Cothamians at Headley Park. Dan Lock scored their other goal.
At Creswicke Road, goals from Brad Selway, Josh Lewis and Loui Derrick gave hosts Broad Plain House a 3-1 win over Wessex Wanderers.
Nathaniel Johnson struck four times at Hillside Gardens to help Rockleaze Rangers Reserves to a 7-1 win over Parson Street OB, with Matheo Charrie-Chardin (2) and Drew Sawdon also on target.
Senior Division leaders Southmead CS Athletic won 6-1 against Cosmos. They took an early lead before Ryan Willmott equalised to make it 1-1 at half-time. The visitors scored five times in the second half.
Second-placed Redbridge lost 1-0 at St Nicholas in the GFA Senior Amateur Cup.
Jamaica Bell beat Hengrove Athletic Reserves 3-1, thanks to goals from Kev de Cristofaro. Joad Shaban and Will Stevens. Fourthplaced Stoke Gifford United Reserves beat Stockwood Wanderers Reserves 4-0 at North Road.
One of the two 100 per cent records in Division One ended when Easton Cowboys Reserves were held to a goalless draw at the Civil Service Ground by Bristol Phoenix.
Perran Blundell, Billy Reed, Ethan Johnson and Darryl Cazley were the St Vallier marksmen in a 4-1 home win over Bromley Heath United Reserves to maintain their 100 per cent record, while Filton Athletic Reserves moved up to third place courtesy of a 3-1 win at Phoenix NG.
