Sunday football Romaine bags five goals in Academia cup triumph

challengin­g strongly at the top end of the Bristol Premier Sunday League Premier Division, eased through to the next round of the GFA Sunday Premier Cup with a 6-1 win at Longreach Athletic.

Romaine Murchison was the start of the show with five of the Academia goals, with Conor Hartley also on target. Matthew Troth replied for Longreach.

In an all-Premier Division cup game, Kye Simpson and Ethan Wilson were among the scorers as Bristol All Stars won 3-1 against Sportsman.

North Bristol Victory progressed to the next round after a 2-0 win against Shire Green Rovers at Shirehampt­on FC.

In the Beaufort Cup, Premier Division strugglers Lawrence Weston Athletic gave their seson a lift with a 2-1 home win against Rockleaze Rangers.

In the Senior Division, Avonmouth gained their second win with a 3-1 win against Galenicals, in which Leevan Uhlyk (2) and Kevin Blunt scored their goals.

Breakaways had goals from Richard Prynn and Darryl Towler in a 2-1 win at Yate Rangers, whose goal came from Kobie McGlashan.

In the Kahuna Flooring Cup, two goals apiece from Alex BennettFor­d and Charlie Britton helped Signal Generals win 6-1 at Little Stoke Old Boys.

Sporting QTAC stayed top of Division Two with a 5-2 win at bottom side Sporting United. A hattrick from Jake McCracken led Houselande­r to a 6-4 win at Rising Sun, for whom Dan Matthews completed a treble of his own.

Tyler Matthews was another hattrick man as he guided Shire Green Rovers Reserves to a 5-1 win against Hambrook United.

In Division Three, Bristol Jaguars won 3-2 at Shadwell Rovers, while two goals from Ryan Jefferies helped Starfield United take a point from a 3-3 draw against BEMS.

Fishponds Town Wizards made it eight wins out of eight in Division Four after two goals from Timothy Rutherford helped secure a 6-1 triumph against Digital Dash.

In the Action Print Cup, North Bristol Victory Reserves won 7-1 against AJN. Spencer Hulands and Redley Cormack both scored twice for the victors, with Daniel Zerk on target for AJN.
