Semenyo’s World Cup bow

-

BRISTOL City striker Antoine Semenyo made his World Cup debut as a late substitute in Ghana’s 3-2 defeat against Portugal in Qatar.

Semenyo, 22, came on in the second of nine minutes of stoppagetime as Ghana attempted to rescue a point against Portugal, having been 2-0 and 3-1 down at various points during an action-packed second half.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a 65th-minute penalty for Portugal, which made the 37-year-old the first player to score in five World Cup Finals.
