When will we be able to sensibly discuss problems migration brings?
NORTH Northamptonshire Council wants to prevent migrants being accommodated at the Royal Hotel in Kettering.
Five other local authorities are also taking legal action: East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Stoke City Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, and Fenland District Council.
Ten per cent of hotels in Northern Ireland have been used by the Home Office. And in our area, there are hotels being contracted to house migrants and asylum seekers. Media reports suggest that nationally it’s costing between £1.3 billion and £1.7 billion per year!
Doesn’t anyone in government understand that it’s not about prejudice or some right-winger chanting a particular type of rhetoric, it’s about pressure on resources and services that people are concerned and angry about.
It seems to me that middle and upper classes don’t understand the issue as they are not seriously impacted by the changes occurring within society. I don’t see any evidence that politicians take into account the effects of immigration on the schools, hospitals and housing. Instead, the political mantra is we need doctors, nurses and therefore migration is a good thing.
Thousands of people crossing the channel in boats doesn’t fill the vacancies in the NHS or teaching profession.
We are in serious trouble, and no one wants to sensibly debate the problem. It was an issue and now I believe it is a very serious problem. We need a clear and honest discussion without those opposed to it being labelled as racist or rightwing.
It is not racist to discuss illegal migration, especially when nine out of 10 are males are aged between 18 and 40.
Many will get leave to remain. Some will try to bring their families to the UK.
Undoubtedly there are some who will contribute to our society. But the lack of action by the authorities is something we will live with for generations to come (no pun intended).
New Labour’s initial liberalisation of immigration policy didn’t last long. Whilst Nu-Labour was reducing the UK’s immigration controls other EU states, Germany and France in particular, were increasing theirs and since 2007 UK immigration has gone from bad to worse. This 15-year emasculation has come home to roost.
