Sodbury beat Bedminster to boost title challenge

OLD Sodbury moved up to second in the District League Senior Division with a 4-1 home victory against fellow high-fliers

Josh Field, Khalil Lamri, Jordan Miller and Jamie Yandell were on target for Sodbury, with Dean Yandell the scorer for Down.

Longwell Green Sports A had goals from Toby Werritt (3), Adain Howells and Ashanti Jones in a 5-2 home win against Bradley Stoke Town Reserves, for whom Ashley Rogers-Milburn scored twice.

Chipping Sodbury Town A gained their second success of the season with a 3-1 home win against Henbury Reserves.

In Division One, Seymour United won 6-2 at Hanham Athletic Reserves, thanks to goals from Dillon Monks (2), Daniel Williams (2), Kieran Maloney and Mark Toms. Luke Wiltshire and Taylor Werritt scored for Hanham.

Tormarton had goals from Mathew Bajjada, Jamie Stait and Layton Windsor in a 3-1 home win against Hambrook Reserves, whose goal came from Cjay Summerlin.

In Division Two, goals from Henry Thomas, James Cooke and George Huke couldn’t save Thornbury Town A from a 5-3 home defeat to Greyfriars Athletic Reserves.

Highridge United Reserves won 5-2 at home to Mendip Broadwalk A, courtesy of strikes from Jack Deccan (2), Owen Rodgers, George Swift and Lee Griffin. Jake Leaver and Danny Young struck for Broadwalk.

In Division Three, goals from Wes Lewis, Mark White and Jamie Davey gave De Veys Reserves a 3-1 home win against Fry Club A.

In Division Four, second-placed Real St George won 4-3 at Bedminster Down Reserves, for whom Alfie Palmer (2) and Mark Walton scored.

Two goals from Adam Butcher led Bitton Reserves to a 4-1 win at Lion Reserves, while Unity Strikes battled out a 4-4 draw against Greyfriars Athletic A.

In Division Five, Hengrove 88 beat FC Bristol United 3-1, Real St George Reserves won 5-1 at home to Highridge United A, while five goals from Jordan Edwards fired Bedminster Down A to a 7-3 success at Stoneway Athletic.
