Steakhouse takes second bite with a newbranch

-

COW & Sow has revealed it will be opening a new restaurant less than a year after it opened its Queen Square site.

The second venue will be opening on Whiteladies Road at the former site of The Cowshed, which closed at the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Mark Warburton, restaurant owner, is the managing director of The OHH Pub Company, which also owns The Bear &

Swan in Chew Magna and The Old House at Home, Burton in Wiltshire.

He launched the first site in January after selling a couple of pubs within his group and has always wanted to break into the Bristol food scene.

“January came and almost by chance I got offered the Queen Square site through St Austell, which was formerly Graze,” Mark said.

“My plan has always been this and I’d really like to expand that side of the business outside of Bristol as well.

“A second site in Bristol in the right location was always the idea because it gives me an insight as to whether the brand will travel so I can test it in two locations but in the same city.”

The restaurant in Queen Square focuses on prime cuts served on small plates.
