Labour to keep points immigration system

SHADOW education secretary Bridget Phillipson said a Labour government would maintain the points-based system used for immigration.

Asked on Sky’s Sophy Ridge On Sunday programme whether she would like to see immigration higher or lower, the frontbencher said: “I think my starting point is that immigration has always been an important part of our national story.

“But I do recognise at the same time that we need to make sure we’re investing in the skills of people here, that we’re giving everyone the opportunity to succeed.”
